Gardiner Fire Department

Chief's Page

Hello, I’m Chief Matt Goodnow, Chief of the Gardiner Fire Department. I’m proud to have served the community for over 16 years. We’ve come a long way since our beginnings in 1912. New technology, new apparatus, greater training, and stronger opportunities for our members to advance to larger companies, all point to a bright future. Our Emergency Services is second to none responding to medical emergencies in tandem with private ambulance services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Of course, as an all volunteer company, we are regularly faced with recruitment challenges. But I can assure you that if you or someone you know joins us, you will be rewarded with a powerful sense of camaraderie, service, and community.

Our mission is a simple one: The Gardiner Fire Department and the Gardiner Fire District are dedicated to the health and welfare of Gardiner residents, their families, their property. our visitors, and businesses. And, by way of a mutual aid agreement, we assist surrounding communities in times of emergency.

GFD is a combination fire department that provides both fire and emergency medical services. The department covers Gardiner’s approximately 28,000 acres or 45 square miles and more than 55 miles of roads. GFD is authorized by New York State to provide fire protection and suppression, EMT level medical care, BLS ambulance transport, search and rescue, woodland fires and emergencies, victim extraction, and hazardous materials mitigation.

It’s my honor to represent the members of the Gardiner Fire Department. I’d like to introduce you to our officers:

First Assistant Chief Brian Sticia
